About BFCN

The Black Foundation of Community Networks (BFCN) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2011. We are based in Vaughan, Ontario but proudly serve and support Black communities across the province. BFCN provides free and low-cost programs, advocacy, and resources, and connects people with other local organizations and services. We believe that together we can achieve success, one student, one adult, and one family at a time.

BFCN is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We rely on community donations and welcome all support so we can continue to do our work.

“From the first day my kids and I attended the BFCN Friday Focus event I knew we had found a place that was not only welcoming and warm but, right for our family. Witnessing the passion and determination of the BFCN founders in how they care for our young black children was inspiring and moving. What started out as tutoring in mathematics became so much more. BFCN not only reached my children by giving them a safe place to make mistakes and seek answers but, they also showed them that there were people who looked like them willing to help and make a difference. The wealth of knowledge and information shared through networks, the BFCN scholarships, and the powerhouse that is Cheryl Yarde and everyone at BFCN will always have my support and thanks. The work that BFCN does is making a positive impact in the lives of not only our children but, us a community.”

"For me BFCN provides all elements of a family. They provide guidance to resources, support, a safe environment for growth, a fun time when there's a gathering, understanding and scholarships (financial help)! BFCN promotions a sense of community within the York Region Black Community and they show up and show out for me and our people! I look forward to the future of BFCN because it was founded by family and will always remain family to me.” ♡
